Most roof projects start the same way. A homeowner gets a few estimates, lines them up, and picks one. That is exactly where this Snohomish job began, with a lower bid already in hand from another company. Then the homeowner talked to us.

When the lowest bid is not the easy choice

We do not win every job on price, and we do not try to. What we did here was sit down, understand what the homeowner actually needed, and work out a deal that made sense for both sides.

“I initially was going to go with another company who had a lower bid, but Amor wanted to work with us so we negotiated a deal that was better for both of us.” (Arin A., Snohomish)

This was not an easy roof

It was two structures, the main house and a detached garage, and the pitch was steep. On top of that, the old roof was cedar shake, which at the end of its life has to come all the way off, and the deck underneath usually needs attention too. Here it did.

“It's also very steep and they had to remove cedar shake shingles and install plywood before putting down asphalt shingles.” (Arin A., Snohomish)

Why the new deck matters

Shingles are only as sound as the surface beneath them. We tore the shake off down to the framing and re-decked the entire roof with new plywood before a single new shingle went on. For the new surface we installed Malarkey Vista asphalt shingles in Natural Wood, finished with proper ridge venting so the attic can breathe.

Two and a half days, start to finish

“They got it done very quickly, in 2 and a half days, and within a couple weeks of making the deal.” (Arin A., Snohomish)

A full tear-off, a complete re-deck, and a new shingle roof on two steep structures, done in two and a half days. That is a well-staffed, well-run crew that knows the work and respects your time.

We kept them in the loop, even from out of town

“They sent us hundreds of pictures as they went to document their progress, which was very helpful because while my family was home, I was traveling for work at the time.” (Arin A., Snohomish)

Every Amor project gets photographed from start to finish. It keeps us accountable and it keeps you informed, whether you are standing in the driveway or three states away. See the finished roof in the full project gallery.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to remove old cedar shake before installing asphalt shingles?
Yes. Cedar shake at the end of its life comes off completely, and the deck underneath is usually re-sheathed with new plywood so the new shingles have a sound, flat base.
How long does a full roof replacement take?
It depends on size and complexity, but a well-staffed crew can complete a full tear-off, re-deck, and new roof in a matter of days. This steep two-building Snohomish job took two and a half.
Can I see progress if I am not home during the work?
Yes. Amor documents every project from tear-off to finish and shares photos along the way, so you stay in the loop even when you are traveling.
